Dr. Angela Planer graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After completing her training, she was employed by the University of Iowa College of Dentistry special care department. She then moved to Chicago where she has practiced since 2000. Her clinical interests include treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, pediatric sleep apnea, temporomandibular dysfunction, orthopedic orthodontia, and aesthetic dentistry.
Dr. Planer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. She is an active member of several other organizations:

Dr. Planer served as a director on the board of the Illinois Sleep Society from April 2012 to 2014, and she is currently working toward her Fellowship from the International Association of Orthodontics.
Dr. Planer became interested in taking an active role in screening and treating her patients in these multifactorial disciplines after attending several seminars focusing on airway and orthopedic developmental. Due to the complexity of proper diagnosis, Dr. Planer works with a team that includes a sleep specialist, an orofacial myofunctional therapist, an ENT, an oral surgeon, a chiropractor, a massage therapist, and a physical therapist to ensure that her patients receive optimal care.
