Born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, Dr. Vranas is a second generation dentist, following in the footsteps of her father, Dr. Michael H. Kontos. She attended Purdue University where she received her undergraduate degree in biology and she is a 1986 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School.
Dr. Vranas further pursued her dental studies in a general practice residency at the Hines VA Hospital and then continued with a hospital dentistry fellowship at Northwestern University Hospital. During her two years on the faculty of the Removable Prosthetics department of Northwestern University Dental School, Dr. Vranas enjoyed supervising students on dental treatment at some of Chicago's inner-city nursing homes.
A past member of the board of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Vranas is also a member of the Fox River Valley Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Hellenic American Dental Society.
While she enjoys the variety of treatments that general dentistry afford her, Dr. Vranas truly loves taking the time to first get acquainted with her patients. She believes in first listening to her patients so as to best provide the gentle, thorough care that they deserve. Dr. Vranas is dedicated to advancing her postdoctoral study and provides her patients with a gentle, caring, comprehensive approach to oral health.
Dr. Vranas and her husband Niko, are blessed with two daughters, Evanthia & Arianna. Aside from being an avid fan of Naperville North High School, Dr. Vranas enjoys yoga, playing tennis, involvement in her church, being a parent supporter of Young Life, and she is the proud co-director of The Apollo Dance Troupe, a Greek folk dance company founded by her mother 40 years ago.
