Blog - Digital Dental Impressions

Dr. Erica here! I’m excited to talk to you about some of the latest technology that we have for you at Naper Dental Center: the 3Shape Trios Scanner! When you think dental impressions, you probably think of the longest 30 seconds to 5 minutes of your life with goopy material dripping down your throat, saliva dripping down your chin, a big metal tray in your mouth, and impression material stuck in between your teeth and on your face! I know those are the memories that are conjured up for me from my days as a kid in braces and then being the guinea pig patient as a dental student way back when, but that 20th impression will forever leave an impression - yuck! But these are mere memories and we do things a little differently now and a whole lot better.

Fortunately, technology has come a long way and at Naper Dental Center we are on the cutting edge of the latest dental technology trends and are proud to offer digital impressions. Long gone are the goopy impression days. Now we mainly take impressions with our digital scanner. It’s quick, accurate, and pulls up a 3D image of your teeth, roof of mouth and whatever else we need to capture. You even get to look at the images that we’ve captured and patients think it’s pretty amazing. We use the scanner at both Naper Dental Center and Naper Dental Sleep Center for impressions for crowns, bridges, veneers, orthodontic appliances, night guards, sleep appliances, etc.

Offering our patients the very best and most comfortable experience possible is what we strive to do at every visit. We believe the 3Shape Trios Scanner adds to the patient experience and makes it much easier to handle appointments where you might need to have an impression taken, especially if you’re like me and dread the goopy material. We hope your experiences are much more enjoyable with this new technology if you ever need to experience it in our office. Thanks for taking the time to read our blog!
